Welcome to
Just Say No To Tasers!

This site is unofficially dedicated to Roger Holyfield.

Who was Tasered by Police after being handcuffed ... TASERED AT LEAST TWICE!!
went into a coma and Died.

So why did this occur .. Holyfield left a relative's house with a bible and cordless phone. A Person driving bye saw holyfield screaming for Jesus probably because he was to be baptized the next day! He did nothing wrong but want Jesus. Trying to get Jesus to call him and ignoring the police. To understand what happened in holyfield's mind you need to understand mental illness which holyfield suffered from. He simply thought he could get Jesus to call him on the cordless phone if he called out for him. He was not a harm to himself or others. He simply ignored the police because lets face it getting Jesus to call you is more important. All they needed to do is call the phone have someone act like Jesus and talk him out of it.
The otopsy will not be finished for a couple of weeks they are trying to blame it on Excited delirium a psycoligical condition that is not medically reconized but is made up. They freely use this to decribe any one who dies in police custody and have either mental illness or drug use history.

NEXT TIME This could be YOUR SON OR DAUGHTER!!

This site has been reviewed by a Electricion's and Psychologist's for its accuracy and found no inaccuracys but did say that I could go more indepth. I welcome Electricion's and Psychologist's to tell me anything I should add or correct in any statement. Police who wish to tell their story as to why the taser should not be used are welcome also. Police that are Pro Tasers need not respond we all know your stance "It is cool and we dont have to deal with them we can just get back to eating our donuts faster" rather than dealing with the situation as trained talking to people, calming them down, etc. Taser Intl need not respond eather we know you will say anything to keep selling $500 - $1000 tasers that cost $15.00 to make.

Please feel free to use this link feedback
THIS DANGEROUS WEAPON NEEDS TO BE TAKEN OFF THE STREET
AND AWAY FROM THE PEOPLE WHO ARE MISUSING IT ... THE POLICE!!!

We need to stop capital punisment for J walking!

It is not that your unlucky if you are killed by a taser but rather that you are lucky if you survive it!
The Police and Taser Intl. will have you beleve that electricty does not kill. Did you learn nothing in history or science class? Electricty IE. Voltage KILLS obviously the people that think voltage is harmless never heard of William Gilbert or Thomas Alva Edison or hear of the electric chair. It is basic electronics 101! I am not a teacher although I was a CPR Instructor so you will have to understand that I am trying to educate you in the best way I know.

The police think it is a cool toy and taser intl. wants to keep selling their product!
Now I want to introduce my self because everyone is going ask and want to know how I know this stuff and what my experience is in this field so here we go.

1. Commen Sence - Electricity KILLS!! 1 VOLT WILL KILL YOU!! Even LESS THAN 1 VOLT WILL KILL YOU!! and the tasers are 50,000 Volts or MORE!! Some are 300,000 Volts THE SAME AS BEING HIT BY A BOLT OF LIGHTNING! AND YET SOME are at 750,000 VOLTS!
2. How do I know about electricity? My Father was a electrician who taught me from the age of probably 5 Years Old or younger how to take electrical equipment apart and the importance of makeing sure no power was going to it when doing so because electricity kills!.
3. I am a ex CPR Instructor! and ex Lifeguard!
4. I am a Diabetic so I know the effects of what low blood sugar will do ( in further reading you will see why this was included. )
5. Not to mention the 138 IQ. Although horrible at spelling.
Wow Further searching ( actually on a taser website ) they actually admit ... well read for yourself ...

Source http://www.taser101.com/stunguns.html
Stun guns use high voltage and low amperage to temporarily disable an attacker for several minutes. Though the stun gun inflicts pain on the assailant, it is not the primary disabling factor. The energy stored in the gun is dumped into the attacker’s muscles causing them to do a great deal of work rapidly. This rapid work cycle instantly depletes the attacker’s blood sugar by converting it to lactic acid. In short, he is unable to produce energy for his muscles, and his body is unable to function properly. The stun gun also interrupts the tiny neurological impulses that control and direct voluntary muscle movement. When the attacker’s neuromuscular system is overwhelmed and controlled by the stun gun he loses his balance. Should the attacker be touching you, the current will NOT pass to your body!
Wow unable to function properly. So they are admitting that it causes such things as your heart (a muscle) to not function properly in fact they admit that it will make the "body" not function properly! So what is happening here is the hart goes into asystole or ventricular fibillation. So "If" not When the heart recovers back to normal after being tasered and "if" not when your Blood Sugar depleted body can create glucose (Normal is 80-120) after takeing it down to who know what causing you to go into hypoglycemia:
-shakiness
-dizziness
-weak feeling
-sweating
-nervousness (this is where being diagnosed with Excited Delirium come into play)
-fast heart rate (this is where being diagnosed with Excited Delirium come into play)
-pale skin color
-hunger
-difficulty paying attention or confusion (this is where being diagnosed with Excited Delirium come into play)
-headache
-sudden moodiness or behavior changes (this is where being diagnosed with Excited Delirium come into play)
-tingling sensations around the mouth

The whole time you are being tased your heart is just fluttering and not pumping.
Then it goes into Asystole or Ventricular or if your lucky back to normal.
So lets for a second take the Excited Delirium theory for a ride. What happens when you get a electric shock ... Your body gets short circuited and it can dump large quantities of any number of hormones into your blood stream for instance adrenalin to try to keep your body running. It can make you loose control of your faculties. It can even make you go into a coma. Keep in mind it only takes “1 VOLT TO KILL YOU!!” the comparison between the 3 ( Lightning, Industrial and Taser electrocution ) are obvious when looking at any of the taser killings actually you have a better chance of surviving Lightning or Industrial electrocution because Taser electrocution is similar to the electric chair when concidering the amount of time you are being electrocuted! Although the electric chair only used 2,000 Volts @ 30 SEC. the taser uses 50,000 Volts. @ 5 SEC.

2000 x 30 = 60000 Total Voltage for electric Chair
30000 x 5 = 150000 Total Voltage for the taser 2.5 times the punishment.

Ok I was told to put Amps in the artical.
Per Taser Intl. Website the taser uses 0.0021 to 0.0036

It takes
20 volts 0.5 ampers 1,000 ohms DC @ 3 Seconds for heart fibrillation from non across-the-chest contact
20 Volts 0.1 ampers 1,000 ohms AC @ 3 Seconds for heart fibrillation from non across-the-chest contact
20 Volts 0.017 ampers 1,000 Ohms @ 3 Seconds for heart fibrillation from across-the-chest such as hand to hand.

So now your going to say ok the taser is no near the ampers required for fibrillation .. that is true but the results are for 1 a rateing for 3 seconds and 2 they are for touching skin not sticking in skin via a barb.
In the skin Barb 1ohm body resistance
E = IR
E = (0.0036 amperes)(1 kOhms) 1000 Ohms
E = 3.6 volts
While .0036 ampers is 1/5 the deadly amperage of .017 ampers the barbs makeing internal connection is 1/1000 the resistance only 1 Ohm of resistance is present Lowering the needed ampers to cause death / fibrillation.

Anyone can feel free to correct me on this as I dont know if I have it right myself.
But due to 1/1,000 from above known death rate at 1,000 Ohms this should be correct.
0.02 volts 0.0005 ampers 1 ohms DC @ 3 Seconds for heart fibrillation from non across-the-chest contact
0.02 Volts 0.0001 ampers 1 ohms AC @ 3 Seconds for heart fibrillation from non across-the-chest contact
0.02 Volts 0.000017 ampers 1 Ohms @ 3 Seconds for heart fibrillation from across-the-chest such as hand to hand.

the lower the ohms the lower the amperes needed to cause death.

Basically what this comes down to is capital punishment for J Walking!!
The typical industrial electrical shock is 20,000 to 63,000 volts, while a lightning strike delivers about 300,000 volts.

The Taser is 50,000 Volts so not as much as a Lightning strike but within the industrial level. But some Tasers go up to 300,000 Volts the same as a Lightning bolt.

Industrial shocks rarely last longer than half a second (500 milliseconds) because a circuit breaker opens or the person is thrown far from the live conductor. Lightning strikes have an even shorter duration, only lasting up to a few milliseconds. Most of the current from a lightning strike passes over the surface of the body in a process called "external flashover."

However a taser lasts “5SECONDS” doing 10 Time the damage!! And do/can do damage similar to the industrial shock.

1. Both industrial shocks and lightning strikes result in deep burns at point of contact - for industry the points of contact are usually on the upper limbs, hands and wrists, while for lightning they are mostly on the head, neck and shoulders. Industrial shock victims sometimes exhibit deep tissue destruction along the entire current path, while lightning victims’ burns seem to center at the entry and exit points. Both industrial shock and lightning victims may be injured from falling down or being thrown, and the leading cause of immediate death for both is cardiac or cardiopulmonary arrest.

-Asystole/Ventricular fibrillation
-Inhibition of brainstem respiratory centers
-Multi-system failure (delayed death)

-Neuropathy/Pain syndromes
-Spinal cord injury/Parkinsonism
-Sleep and memory disorders/Concentration
disturbances/Irritability/Depression/Various other disturbances such as headaches, tiring easily, lightning storm phobia, etc.
-Post traumatic Stress Disorder

Burns and Cutaneous marking
-Small, deep entry/exit points (typical)
-Contact, metal chain heating (typical)
-Superficial linear

"Lightning injuries are varied and take many different forms. The most dangerous (and possibly fatal) immediate complications are cardiovascular and neurologic. It must be kept in mind that only immediate and effective cardiorespiratory resuscitation (started by rescuers), followed as soon as possible by emergency medical treatment, can save victims who are in cardiopulmonary arrest, or avert the serious consequences of cerebral hypoxia. Some victims remain in a coma despite intensive resuscitation and die of secondary causes including hemorrhages and multiple lesions (encephalic, cardiac, pulmonary, intra-abdominal)."

Our opinion is that this is a made up Mythological condition that the coroners are using to get the police a “get out of trouble free card” when they kill someone using a taser.
Excerpt on Excited Delirium from other sites.

Medical examiners nationwide have increasingly cited the heart-racing delirium resulting from drug use or psychiatric problems when suspects die in police custody. But some doctors say the rare syndrome is being overused, and certain civil rights groups question whether it exists at all.

"For psychiatrists, this is a rare condition that occurs once in a blue moon," said Warren Spitz, a former chief medical examiner in Michigan. "Now suddenly you are seeing it all the time among medical examiners. And always, police and police restraint are involved."

Excited delirium came to doctors' attention in the 1980s as cocaine use skyrocketed, said Vincent DiMaio, chief medical examiner in Bexar County, Texas, and a proponent of the diagnosis. No reliable national statistics exist on how many suspects die from excited delirium because county medical examiners make the ruling, and some use different terminology.

In Dallas, at least three in-custody deaths in the last five months have been linked to excited delirium. This prompted the police department to implement mental health assessment training they say will stem the sudden deaths.

Other police departments, including San Diego, have done the same in efforts to prevent community protests, which have cropped up from California to Maryland, and costly lawsuits. In Phoenix, a jury awarded million in April to the parents of a restrained suspect whose death was attributed to excited delirium.

The condition, described as an overdose of adrenalin, affects mostly young men with histories of drug use or mental illness and what are thought to be brain abnormalities, DiMaio said. He said most cases are triggered by drugs such as cocaine and methamphetamine.

The drugs elevate blood pressure and heart rate, and the increase is pronounced if a person is experiencing paranoia, hallucinations and violent impulses, DiMaio said.

Police often respond to calls of sufferers stripping off clothes to cope with a soaring body temperature, breaking glass and threatening others. The officers and the suspect struggle, and the excitement stresses the suspect's heart until it fails, DiMaio said.

"You are gunning your motor more and more and more, and it is like you blow out your motor," said DiMaio, who estimates that the condition kills as many as 800 people nationwide each year. "You are just overexciting your heart from the drugs and from the struggle."

Medical examiners and emergency room doctors know the syndrome well, but psychiatrists seldom see it because sufferers almost always die before they can get mental help, DiMaio said.

The most commonly used psychiatric reference, "The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders," does not specifically recognize "excited delirium" as a diagnosis. The International Association of Chiefs of Police says not enough is known about it.

"It is not a recognized medical or psychiatric condition," said spokeswoman Wendy Balazik. "That is why we don't use it and have not taken a position on it."

Dr. Matthew D. Sztajnkrycer, an emergency room doctor for 10 years and associate professor at the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota, said he has seen cases of excited delirium but has many questions about it.

"It is not like a heart attack where you can just get a blood test and know you have the right diagnosis," he said. "Part of the problem is that post-mortem there is a paucity of physical evidence."
He said more research is needed to understand excited delirium and how commonly it occurs. Then doctors can better diagnose it and police can learn how best to handle it, he said.

Spitz and other critics say the condition is questionable because it almost never occurs without police restraint techniques.

"By explaining deaths with excited delirium, it takes the focus away from where it should be," said Dawn Edwards, director of PoliceWatch at the Ella Baker Center for Human Rights in Oakland, Calif. "What it comes down to is the policemen, at the time of the death, were using excessive force."

But even critics like Edwards praise the Dallas plan, which they say could also curb incidences of brutality.
It calls for an ambulance any time a suspect is behaving erratically and mental illness training for police, 911 operators and dispatchers, said Dallas Assistant Chief Daniel Garcia.

Instructor and Senior Cpl. Herb Cotner said officers will learn to deescalate encounters with mentally ill suspects, by slowing things down, using suspects' first names and possibly avoiding the use of force.

Cotner recalled a suspect years ago who appeared in the throes of excited delirium. The man scaled a six-foot wrought iron fence, tore his leg open, raced on for several blocks and almost bit off a fireman's finger, Cotner said. He fought police who were trying to restrain him and provide medical care. Then his heart stopped beating, and he died in the street.
I am still waiting to hear a Police Officer being called to McDonalds for a 3 Year Old haveing a temper tantrum and the officer taseing him/her and killing the child. Its only a matter of days before it happens if it has not already by the time your reading this! The report will read "The child was a threat to him/her self and others it was our only recourse." And it will happen because the police and taser intl. are already saying it is safe to use on kid's! Which shows intent to be used that way.
